COURSE OBJECTIVE课程目标:
The aim of MRM course is to focus on positive attitude change leading to behavioral dynamics that reduces management error. It sharpens the skill of officers and engineers in the use and coordination of knowledge, experiences and available resources to achieve a high standard of safety at sea.
The MRM is designed to meet the requirement of International Convention on Standards of Training Certification and Watch‐keeping for Seafarers, 1978, as amended in 1995 and 1997 (STCW Convention) and Seafarer’s Training, Certification, Watch‐keeping Code (STCW Code), IMO High Speed craft code, IMO International Safety Management Code and SOLAS.
Upon completion of the MRM, the participants shall be capable of :
1.Recognizing of hazardous thoughts and replacing them with the safe thought
2.Understanding of the need for culture awareness and using the culture wheel to effective communication.
3.Understanding the principles of setting up correct climate for interactive and close loop for communication, briefing and debriefing.
4.Understanding the concept of challenge and response and recognizing the importance of challenge and response to safety.
5.Recognizing the group dynamic in problem solving and understanding the short term strategy as the MRM tool in problem solving.
6.Recognizing the need for a balance between authority and assertiveness.
7.Stating the different management styles and identifying and responding to them.
8.Recognizing the whole range of workload and the importance of pre‐planning and delegation.
9.Understanding the factors affecting the various states of bridge/engine control room.
10.Stating the underlying causes of accidents both external and internal errors and a policy to response and learn from errors.
11.Recognizing the factors including hidden pressure affecting the judgment and decision making.
12.Stating different types of emergencies and strategy to deal with them.
13.Explaining strategy to manage crew and crowd in a crisis and stating how to conduct personal crisis debriefing.
14.Stating some automation characteristics and dangers and how to control automation more effectively.
