COURSE OBJECTIVE课程目标:
The aim of the ECDIS course is to ensure that officers are trained to use ECDIS in navigational planning and perform
proper actions which are necessary for safe navigation.
This ECDIS course complies with IMO Model Course 1.27 “The Operational Use of Electronic Chart Display and Information
Systems”.
Upon completion of this course, participants shall be capable of:
1. Describing the essential legal aspects and responsibilities in the use of ECDIS.
2. Stating the main characteristics of principal types of electronic charts.
3. Explaining and handling of all safety relevant and major characteristics of ECDIS Data.
4. Describing the performing limits of seniors and assessing their impact on the safe use of ECDIS.
5. Operating all basic navigational functions and settings of ECDIS.
6. Operating all specific functions and obtaining all relevant information for route planning from ECDIS.
7. Operating all specific functions for route monitoring and obtaining all relevant information for navigation and for
the ship’s safety.
8. Applying updates and assessing the importance of updates.
9. Explaining the potential errors of displayed data and taking proper actions.
10. Explaining the potential errors of interpretation and taking proper actions to avoid these errors.
11. Explaining the status indications, indicators and alarms for different kinds of situation and taking proper action.
12. Understanding the meaning of voyage recording and operating the corresponding functions.
13. Analyzing and assessing the proper functioning of ECDIS.
14. Navigating safely using the back‐up system in case of ECDIS failure.
15. Assessing the limitations of ECDIS.
