CMA CGM 2018 Batch Cadets Pre-joining Familiarization Feelings

达飞船东于2月6日为通过2018年面试的30名新cadet做了详细和全面的pre-joining briefing,以下是其中两名学生发来的培训感受。

2月6号在北京鑫裕盛办公室里,来自达飞的Cap.Paul为我们18级的cadets进行pre- joining familiarization training。这次培训主要介绍了达飞的体系文件以及达飞对实习生的要求。数据统计,实习生平均12.8 个月就可以提职做三副四轨。实习生的提职时间之所以能远远短于同行,是因为达飞对实习生有一套完整的培养体系,同时要求也极为严格,每个月都有书目作业,每6 个月需要完成一个项目,实习生只需要认真的完成每一项任务,达到船东的要求即可。



针对公司的Safety Policy,Cap.Paul特别强调在船上把安全放在第一位,在发现小的危险苗头须十分重视。在进行每一项工作之前,需要进行风险评估,达飞船队的injuries只有0.32%。

在船上我们会遇到各种各样的困难,首当其冲的便是沟通交流,所以需要不断的练习英语口语。其次情绪管理也很重要,不能因为受到了一点委屈就情绪失控。我们需要放低自己的姿态,因为实习生在船上在船上的职位是最低的。



在提问环节,Cap.Paul提醒驾驶的同学需要把《船舶货运》、《航海学》教科书带上,同时在船上背熟避碰规则2-19条,熟记号灯号型。



我们需要保持谦逊的态度,不断学习。鑫裕盛和达飞船队已经为我们提供了一个宽阔的平台,剩下的就凭自己的本事去拼了。希望能在实习满后,能顺利拿到提职报告,经评估合格后,成为一名合格的officer。



On the 6th Feb.in the Beijing Sinocrew office, from CMA SHIPS Cap.Paul did a pre- joining familiarization training with 2018 new batch cadets. This training mainly introduce the system documents of CMA SHIPS and the requirements of cadets. According to the statistics, average 12.8 months, cadet can be promoted to third officer and fourth engineer. The reason why CMA SHIPS promotion period is shorter than the most company is because CMA SHIPS has a integrated training system and the requirements is very strict. Every month cadet need to finish a assignment, every six months need to finish a project. Cadet needs to finish the every tasks seriously, and meet the CMA SHIPS requirements.

In connection with company’s Safety Policy, Cap.Paul emphasized that safety of working on the board is the most important. Even a small problem should be treated seriously. Prior the head of the department, sailors should do a risk assessment. That's the reason why the CMA fleet injuries ratio is lower than 0.32%.



We will meet various difficulties on board, the first thing is communication. Thus we need to practice Oral English everyday. Secondly, emotion control is also quite important, we cannot let our emotion out of control. We should put down our position for cadet’s position is the lowest on the board.

In the question period, Cap.Paul remained deck cadets shall take the textbook to the board, such as: Cargo Transport, Nautical Navigation. During the board time, we shall learn by heart the second to the nineteenth of COLREGS, and the Lights and Shapes.

We should keep the humble attitude and keep learning. Sinocrew and CMA SHIPS provide a large platform for us, the rest we should use our ability to fight for our targets. Hope when we finish the 12 months training period, we can pass the evaluate assessment and become a qualified officer.

Since the end of the cadet recruitment in 2017, 30 lucky boys - including me, entered the most famous and the world’s third largest container company CMA CGM. I was happy from the bottom of my heart when I heard that there is an owner required orientation training in 6 Feb 2018. It is obviously a good opportunity to get family with its history, background and company policies of CMA CGM. 



First of all, Captain Hu showed us latest CMA SHIPS General Presentation. Through Captain Hu’s detailed explanation, we had benefited a lot from it. CMA CGM is located in Marseilles in French, which is established in 1978. CMA CGM group dares to try new technologies and dare to innovate. For example, CMA CGM confirmed that nine 22,000 TEU ships, which have already been ordered, will become the bellwether in shipping industry to use liquefied natural gas as fuel.

We sat down in the training room quietly waiting for the coming of Captain Hu. I could hardly control my excitement while Captain Hu stepping into the room. He showed his self-confidence and imperturbable as a captain. He gave us a considerable and humorous training speech.



Then Captain Hu explained to us about safety policy and repeatedly emphasized the importance of safety on board. Safety is the first condition for a ship to operate normally and everyone on board must put safety first. As an example, helmet and safety clothing must be worn before working on deck. Even in the last few minutes of the training Captain Hu emphasized the importance of safety again and again.

What’s more, Captain Hu shared many interesting stories which contained useful truth. There was a story I remembered clearly which told us relationships on board is quite important. Electro technical officer wanted recommendation for promotion and every crew member from captain to chief cook wrote recommendation for him because of his kindness on board.



Besides, there are much other information about requests for us from CMA CGM. I do believe that I can satisfy CMA CGM and Sinocrew well with my excellent performance and hard working.
